Also known as CTZ or Columbus/Tomahawk/Zeus hops are a dual-purpose “super high alpha” variety that is ideal for bittering but possess a vegetal, spicy aroma that works beautifully with late or dry hopping. Its exact lineage is unknown, but it is assumed that the Brewers Gold variety was involved, and that the female parent is the same as Nugget’s. Columbus hops are commonly used for American ales, IPAs, imperial red ales and lagers.

Typical Aroma Profile
Columbus is well-known for its vegetal notes, but it also offers sweet fruit, floral, citrusy and herbal aromas.
*Alpha acids are determined by conductometric titration (EBC 7.4) in Europe, by spectrophotometry (ASBC Hops-6) in the USA. Oil composition is determined by gas chromatography (ASBC Hops-17, EBC 7.12).
All values represent the medium range of the last 4 years. Be aware that specifically the alpha and oil values can vary in a broad range depending on the relevant crop year.
