Pilgrim is a bitter-type variety. It was developed by Wye Hops Ltd and gained European Plant Variety Rights in 2006. It has very good resistance to wilt disease and is being planted in areas where this disease is present, often replacing ‘Wye Target’.

Typical Aroma Profile

 

Pilgrim hops intensely aromatic herbs, sweet pineapple and creamy yoghurt combine perfectly with vegetal artichoke and ethereal lemon aromas, complemented by fine notes of chocolate and fruity strawberries.Particularly pronounced notes of aromatic marjoram, chilli, fennel and liquorice complement the profile.

Ancestry

It is a half-sister to ‘First Gold’-- having the same father. Its mother is from breeding lines derived from ‘Wye Challenger’ and ‘Wye Target’.
