The German variant of Perle was released publicly in Germany in 1978, bred from a Northern Brewer female and German male (a US variant of Perle was created in the 1980s, but it has completely different characteristics). An extremely popular choice for aroma, German Perle hops are typically used as late boiling additions or for dry hopping to infuse flavor. Perle hops are suited to any German beer style, from kolsch to pilsners, and is also great for wheat beers and ales.
