Opal is a hop variety from the German research center Hüll and was released together with Esmarald and saphir in 2000. Possibly its green-bluish color inspired the naming for the jewel "Opal".

Typical Aroma Profile

 

Opal shows spicy, woody aromas of liquorice and aniseed and notes of sweet apricot and flowery jasmine predominate. There are additional notes of spicy, woody flavour elements, with light vegetal nuances.
