A new robust, high-yielding, high bittering hop cultivar tolerant to various diseases has been released in 2006 by the Hop Research Center Hüll. Excellent brewing quality combined with very good storage stability increases the value of Herkules for the brewing industry.

Herkules is typically green-grassy, herbal and spicy, reminiscent of tomato leaves and bell peppers.
*Alpha acids are determined by conductometric titration (EBC 7.4) in Europe, by spectrophotometry (ASBC Hops-6) in the USA. Oil composition is determined by gas chromatography (ASBC Hops-17, EBC 7.12).
