To continually improve the long-term quality of our products and services, we constantly review the processes and manufacturing processes employed at BarthHaas. Our QMS meets all requirements of ISO 9001:2008, which is the most widely used and leading standard for quality management both in Germany and abroad. Long-term compliance with this defined framework is ensured through regular recertification audits carried out by TÜV SÜD.
HACCP programs have been developed and introduced at all of the BarthHaas sites. The HACCP management system is internationally recognized and focuses on the prevention of food safety issues. As core components of our ISO 9001 QMS, the HACCP programs are also subject to regular checks and certification.
All aspects of production were investigated in the development of our HACCP programs. This included verification of whether a given hop product is susceptible to a natural or process-induced safety risk. Safety risks may include the biological (especially at microbiological level), chemical and/or physical properties of a product that could potentially lead to consumers sustaining injuries or becoming ill.
HACCP helps us to identify existing or potential risks and introduces a system to reduce the risk of end-product contamination. The HACCP concept is compliant with Regulation (EC) 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs, and incorporates the HACCP principles in accordance with the Food Code (“Codex Alimentarius”) HACCP is also a well-recognized food safety program elsewhere, particularly in the USA.
