Introducing PRYSMA® – The 100 % Hop-Based Flavor Product Platform

BarthHaas introduces PRYSMA®, a 100 % hop-based flavor product that ensures efficient, fast, and long-lasting flavor delivery.

Nuremberg, September 15, 2025. The leading expert in hop innovation is setting new standards in flavor technology with PRYSMA® – the first liquid hop flavor platform that uses a fully hop-derived emulsification system. Designed for both brewing and non-beer applications, PRYSMA® enables unmatched flavor intensity and dispersion while relying solely on natural hop ingredients.

Jocelyn Tillner, Head of R&D, adds: “This is more than an ingredient – it’s a technology platform. PRYSMA® enables precise, reproducible flavor experiences across applications, using nothing but hops.”

The innovation behind PRYSMA® lies in its 100 % hop-based carrier, which disperses hop and other natural flavor compounds quickly and evenly – without requiring synthetic solvents or non-hop-based additives. This unique system ensures that flavor and aroma compounds remain stably suspended in solution, providing both fast flavor transfer and long-lasting freshness. From a technical perspective, PRYSMA enables hop oils and flavor compounds to disperse into both hot and cold aqueous beverages, thereby enhancing their aroma. Once emulsified, the flavor compounds remain in stable suspension.

Unlike conventional products that use non-hop-based carriers or require pre-mixing, PRYSMA® offers a single, clean-label solution. Most liquid hop products either rely on non-hop-derived emulsifiers and preservatives or offer no emulsification at all, resulting in phase separation or the need for complex dosing protocols. PRYSMA® eliminates these compromises with an entirely natural, ready-to-use formulation.

From production speed to labeling compliance, PRYSMA® streamlines the entire brewing workflow. PRYSMA® works amazingly at every stage of brewing, including direct post-filtration dosing – so brewers can keep a single beer stream, yet deliver multiple distinct flavor profiles. It can be dosed easily at any stage of production – including post-filtration – allowing producers to flexibly diversify their flavor profiles without changing base beer streams. This flexibility is especially valuable for high-volume and no- or low-alcohol producers who want clean-label solutions.

“PRYSMA®’s hop-powered dispersion technology unlocks entirely new possibilities for our customers” says Hannes Schneeberger, Head of Sales Management at BarthHaas. “It is a flavor platform designed for co-creation and rapid beverage innovation. Whether it’s enhancing lagers with noble hop character or crafting bold new beverage styles, PRYSMA® empowers you to move faster and think bigger.”

BarthHaas is looking forward to discussing with you how you can build your required profile of hop and other natural flavors onto the PRYSMA® flavor platform. Alternatively, PRYSMA® is available now in ten popular hop varieties – including Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, and Spalter Select.
